What perspective...we are wonderfully made.

This quote and partial comment from Willa's daughter:

"A man ought to take exercise not because he is too fat, but because he loves foils or horses or high mountains, and loves them for their own sake."
- GK Chesterton

Wise advice from G.K. Chesterton! Why must people always go on special exercise plans? Why all the stress and concern about not having worked out enough that day? Why the sighs because one is bored with what they're doing, or because one simply doesn't want to work out one day?

Why not simply do something you love, and let the results come as a side effect? "

I find this especially refreshing as it is coming from the mind and heart of a teenager girl. Here in suburbia I know the angst of teen girls is often manic to measure up to that impossible and irrelevant standard given us by the media.

As I have put on some weight, I realize in my middle years that part is unhealthy eating (as she addresses further down in her post.. ;)== but part is also my metabolism. It is how God made me. I, like you, are a beautiful work from His artistic hand.

It also made me think about the workouts I do. Yes I give myself too much angst at times. Humm... I will be more aware of that now and re-center myself.

But, I realized that I also really enjoy the dancey/aerobics. And I like the social time. I always leave refreshed in mind and body. I am looking for another outlet to exercise and a friend recommended outdoor skates. Not inline, but old fashioned skates that have extra soft wheels that are meant for outdoor use. Doesn't that sound like fun? :)

But, back to our bodies not measuring up...a sweet friend at Jazzercise kindly suggested I go in for a spray-on tan, after seeing me and my white legs day after day. I am a natural redhead and have always been light and freckled. I finally came to terms with this in my adult years after spending many foolish (and now we know dangerous) hours laying out in the sun with my high school buddies. I am English and German... me tan? Don't think so.

When she told me about the tanning, I immediately thought: 'This is how God made me, me and my light skin." We smiled. Yup, He is a great artist.

Thank your daughter for the reminder, Willa!
