Double Rainbow Father's Day

For Father's Day my dh chose to cook. Well, he likes his food and so do the boys and I.
For breakfast he had one of his super-duper Mexican omlettes. It is fabulous. All fresh. Homemade salsa, eggs, cheese, homemade refried beans (he cooks the beans from scratch overnight, then makes them into refried as he needs them), avacado, fresh cilantro, etc.
I helped him chop.
Last night we had Carne Asada. It is like fajitas. We got some tortillas from the local Mexican resturant because we can't seem to duplicate them at home. We had chicken and beef, (so some Pollo Asada, too I guess), fresh chuncky quacamole (with NO mayo in it, thank you), Pico de Gallo, corn salsa (B and I made) and fresh salad.
As it came close to time for dinner, I ask my dh to please pick up the tortillas. The resturant is a good one, but they make you stand at the bar for takeout. Now I am not usually shy, but it is really a waitress station. I have to wait sometimes 15 minutes, with the waitreses rushing past, no place to sit, and the hardened bar patrons at my left and right yukkng it up.
So I asked my dh to do. And he doesn't even eat the tortillas- they are really for our sons.
He went. Nice guy.
After he left, the torrentail rains hit. He came back drenched. I smiled wanely. Thank you, I said. Humph. He said.
Then he started the cooking outside on the Big Green Egg. If you don't know what that is, Google it! My dh swears by it.
After a bit the sun shone through incredibly, though the rain was still pouring and he called us all outside.
Across the eastern horizon was a long rainbow across the white cloudy sky. But, also, there was a second rainbow, right in our yard! It started mid way up the pine trees and ended just between the bird bath and where the hammock used to be. I have never seen a personal rainbow like that before.
S asked where that pot of gold might be... and I knew. In my yard. With my guys.
We ate and then had some of my dh's famous key lime pie. (Yes, he grates up fresh limes, etc. Did I mention he is a cook? And I have 20 pounds that don't seem to want to leave?)
He opened his gifts. The boys had turned over their last $10 to contribute to a Starbucks gift certificate. Boomer and Ralphie and I all chipped in on the Apolostolic Exhortations of Pope John Paul II. Dh was touched by all the thoughtfulness.
His mom sent him a card and $100. She told him to take us all out to dinner or give us $25 each. B read that fine print, so the boys are in the dough again. Easy come easy go.
A nice day.
