Another Way? Ideas Wanted!

Ok.

Picture it.

It is today. You feel like NOTHING is happening learning-wise in your home. Inside your brain is the drum-beat.. LESSONS-LESSONS-LESSONS... That would fix it. That is what other admirable, socially acceptable homeschooling moms, do, right?

But.. maybe there is a better way. Maybe there is a way to introduce IDEAS to your children without resorting to the dull mainline of lessons and pre-prepared information.

This list was suggested to me by one of my favorite online Aussie friends, Leonie. Leonie's blog- click here I want to take it as a starting place.. add on.. with my ideas and yours. Of how we can spark learning in our homes without resorting simply to charts and lists.

Leonie's beginning.. please add any ideas in my comments section:

Strewing (and egs)

Being present (and egs)

Reading- mum's reading - on education, unschooling, family

Read with children (aloud or shared)

Doing something exra for our children and dh (eg cook something special, play a game of light sabers, etc)

Say YES more/today

Journal today- what learning do you see? A typical day?

Smile- seek a joyful moment, seek joy in your tasks today

Put on music and listen/dance/sing

A spiritual moment (Some spiritual reading or prayer or meditation and share your insights with your dc)

Hang a poster or new picture

Re-arrange furniture

Create a nook or play space

De-clutter and create a landscape for your dc to create and play and BE in

I am adding some things I thought of:

Watch (chosen) TV together- or call them in when something interesting happens on the news.

Clean out a closet/drawer and see what neat stuff you find- then share

Share your writing/blog/email with them

Start a craft/art project yourself
