Git 'er Dun! or: Hand Me That Wrenchy Thing-a-ma-jig

Well, I'm proud as punch.
I got tired of waiting for stuff to get repaired around here. Not to blame my dh. He did not inherit a handyman mentality from his father. He got a lot of good stuff from him, lots! Like stock analysis, understandings of politics and history, cooking skills- well maybe the last one he got from his mom. But his father never lay hands on a wrench in his life.
So, this didn't come naturually to my dh. He does the lawn, has a tough job and commute, and fixes way more things than his dad ever did.
Anyway, on to me. :)
I got on a roll this week. Just started doing stuff after I planted flower pots. And it is fun. I plan to inflict.. err.. I mean introduce these skills to my two assistants next week. B, if you are reading this, don't you dare hide my hammer.
What I have done:
-Planted flower pots. (I already said that.)
-Retrofitted storebought hanging baskets with new chain and hooks and hung them in my breezeway.
-Cleaned out the garage.. well did about 75% of it before the heat got to me.
-Organized the patio and put into place a new system to guarentee a dog-poop-free patio. I won't elaborate on the details.
-Resurrected my old chimes from the garage (put there during Hurricane Rita- that was only 7 months ago...) and re-hung them on the patio.
-Re-arranged my Music Room into a Reading Room by moving lots of furniture and de-cluttering.
-Set up my watering hose. The garden hose is not long enough to reach to the newly potted roses on my front walk. I was having to make 4-5 trips carrying water to them every day. We had an old hose that got run over so the end is squished. I took a couplet, cut off the squashed end, retrofitted it and hooked it to the exiting hose. Now it reaches and cost me nothing! (one of my goals is recycling and not just buying new stuff when old stuff is not working)
-Fixed a horrible tick-tick-tick in my wonderful ceiling fan which goes really high blocks out noise. Now the tick-tick is back to a whirrrr..... Oh, I just love my ceiling fan and glad she is back in form.
-Spackled and touch-up painted the kitchen and laundry room after going to the paint store and finding the perfect color match to our 5 year old wall color. (Now I don't have to paint the whole kitchen.. it looks great!)
-Fixed the trim on the double french doors that has been loose and dangling for years. Every time I walked through the doorway it banged and bugged me. Took me 3 minutes and now I'm done.
It is funny how these little things have given me a sense of accomplishment. Not that I wasn't accomplishing anything before. But what I was doing was the same basic chores over and over.. cook, laundry, clean, shop, homeschool. And all the repair were like little gnats--- bugging me everytime I saw their nagging needs. Now they are done. Oh, the power surge! But actually, it was more of a Little Way experience.
This settles it. I want a tool belt. Just to be ready. Now, maybe I can step up to power tools next...
