Farewell to the Jesuits

Today is our farewell Mass to the Jesuits who began and have run our parish for the past 17 years.

The reason is a common one, and sad. There are not enough vocations, new priests to carry on the work. Please remember to religious vocations in your prayers. Thank you.

Our previous Bishop, Joseph Fiorenza will be in attendance and all previous Jesuit priests who have been connected with St. Ignatius Parish will con-celebrate. What a sight that will be!

I remember the first time I saw several priests concelebrate was at a Mass at the Fransician University of Steubenville. It was so awesome and powerful.

And we will have a picnic afterwards in 97 degree heat in our humid Houston climate. Oh, yeah, forgot, I wasn't going to complain about the heat this summer.

We have met our new priest, one assigned to us by the Bishop as we are now in the Galveston-Houston dioceese formally. He is a real go-getter! Wow what a homily.. and his main message was 'change'. We will see what happens at good old, settled St. Ignatius.

More parish reports to come. And I pray that the Holy Spirit will guide us and make us all we are meant to be.
