St. Augustine Condensed?
I am currently reading a book by Fr. Benedict Groschel which helps introduce novices (that's me!) to the writings of St. Augustine's great works, starting with his Confessions.
Actually I am amazed at how much I can relate to this man, this saint, who was once a member of a pagan cult and wrote in the late 300 Ad timeframe. I have never followed a pagan cult and of course live in the 21st century. But some of his thoughts really strike a chord with me.
I was amazed.
Fr. Groschel suggested I get a copy of his complete work to follow along with his guide. I went online at my library and found two translations. One was by Pusey, who he said was difficult, but he picked through at the age of 14. The other I found was a more modern version but not the one by Frank Sheed, which was his recommendation.
But, as I was looking through my library's offering, I did find this. Somehow it made me giggle.
Was I cheating?

Cindy,
The translation of Chadwick is the best. You can buy it in an inexpensive little Penguin edition. Avoid at all costs the translations of Gary Wills.
Thank you Leslie.. my walking book resource! I need to get back to this..... checked the books out, then had to return them. So many books.. so little time...
